Florida has a population of over 23 million. Out of that 23 million, there are 606 communities/cities with populations under 10,000, something we didn't expect. So there should be plenty of small-town events to pull from.

We're going to start with Cedar Key, Florida, a city, for no particular reason other than I've never heard of it, and it seems like an interesting location, even if it doesn't offer any events.
With a population of less than 1,000, expected Cedar Key to be in extreme "South Florida" and to be part of the Florida Keys, but it's not.

Cedar Key is southwest of Gainesville, on the gulf.
There is a Cedar Key museum and state park along with commercial activities such as airplane tours and fishing charters available.
